The Community Synagogue, Port Washington, New York –Monday, November 7, 2016 - Two Minutes of Torah, a podcast recorded by Rabbi Danny Burkeman of The Community Synagogue, has been included in a list of Top Seven Jewish Podcasts, as compiled by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and featured by The Times of Israel. The podcast is listed alongside Israel’s equivalent of ‘This American Life’ and a podcast about Orthodox sex, amongst others.
Rabbi Danny, as he prefers to be called, has been recording the weekly Torah podcast, Two Minutes of Torah, for the JCast Network for almost five years. Each week he offers a brief interpretation of the Torah, often relating it to some contemporary event or piece of pop culture.
Rabbi Burkeman commented: “The idea for the podcast originated because I wanted to find a way to teach Torah, but I was conscious that people have very limited time. As someone who avidly listens to podcasts, I thought it would be a great way to share some teaching with anyone who wanted to listen. I’ve been recording this podcast for almost five years, and you never really know if anybody is listening, so to be included in a list of the Top 7 Jewish Podcasts is a tremendous honor for me and for the JCast Network.”
JCast Executive Producer, Darone Ruskay, looks back at his time working with Rabbi Burkeman and shared, "When I began the network it was important to include a variety of voices in all areas of Jewish learning, life and entertainment. Rabbi Burkeman was one of the first podcasters that I connected with, and his diligence and persistence over the years has helped to grow the network and helped us to create its unique voice. It is such an exciting moment to watch him gain the credit and honor he deserves.”
